Datastor self-storage customers are required to pay the equivalent of one week’s storage fees (inc. VAT) for their storage room in advance. So when you give notice this will be taken into account provided there is no damage to the room after it is vacated.
Yes, you will need insurance. Your home contents insurance will often cover you but we advise that you check the terms of your policy for self-storage cover.
Yes, you will have needed to complete an inventory of your self-storage room. This should identify any valuable items you have placed in storage.
Simply give us seven days’ written notice (we will accept email notification) of when you want to vacate your self-storage room.

No, the self-storage rooms are completely empty. You can bring your own shelving or racking but it must be free-standing and not attached to the walls or structure of the room in any way.
No, the storage rooms do not have power points installed.
Yes, we do have trolleys that customers can use if required.

When considering what size room you will need, remember that if you pack well in storage boxes you will get more into the room. The more you can stack up, the less floor space you will use.

When you come to move in, we can upsize or downsize your storage room on the day provided we have availability.
Yes, you can come and go and remove or add items from your room as you need. Just remember to keep your inventory and value of goods being stored up-to-date for insurance purposes.
No, you do not have to store items in boxes. Your items just need to be stored securely. But do remember that packing in storage boxes means you can use your self-storage space more efficiently.
You can book your self-storage space online, in person or over the phone. Reserving a self-storage room is free and simple to do. If you change your mind at any time, just give us a call and we’ll cancel your reservation.
If you need to change your room size, move-in date or length of stay, just contact our friendly staff.
Unfortunately not, we require photographic ID to confirm your identity for security reasons.
Photographic ID accepted includes: a UK photocard driving licence, a passport or a biometric residence permit.
Other forms of photo ID will require an additional proof of address document.
Yes, you can use your own padlock but it needs to fit onto our self-storage room doors. The padlocks we sell are the correct size and of suitable durability.
If you are bringing your own padlock please check with the store that it is suitable for use.
Yes, as you need to sign any paperwork before you can access your self-storage room.
You can do this before your removal people arrive and the room will then be available, but your payments from the date you sign any paperwork.
Yes, you do have to be present.
Unfortunately, we do not accept cash or cheque payments.
Payments can be made by bank transfer, direct debit or by credit/debit card – in-store or online.
Please ask a member of staff for a mandate if you do not already have a direct debit set up.

We’re confident our prices are the lowest in the North East but if you do get a quote for the same storage solution cheaper elsewhere, better call Paul and we’ll match the price.
We provide a first class, tracked 24 hour delivery service, thanks to our drivers Gary, Callum and Chris. Same day, everyday service is free of charge (requested before 10am).
We know that sometimes you may need access outside of office hours. Need documents at 7pm on a Friday? No problem. We offer urgent deliveries within a 20 mile radius.
Switch to store with us and we’ll cover the cost of your exit fees.
